Sevylor Inflatable Super Caravelle Kit – 3 Person Boat

Posted by k5115116 on July 30th, 2010

Boating is an experience that everyone should try at least once. The thrill of being out on the open water is something that can’t be replicated on a television screen or video game. But unfortunately, many people don’t get into boating because of the high start up costs of owning a boat. Actually, there is a type of boat that is fairly cheap and very easy to use- the inflatable boat. Sevylor is well known for their quality inflatables. The Super Caravelle 3 Person Boat Kit is an awesome way to get started.

This kit comes with a heavy duty three person inflatable boat. You also get a convenient foot pump and two number 4 oars. Extra heavy PVC material is ultra durable and can withstand punishment from weather, fishing, cargo and more. The great thing about an inflatable boat is that you don’t need a trailer. If you use an electric pump, you can have it ready to go in just a few minutes. These boats are remarkable stable and buoyant. The Super Caravelle has a maximum capacity of 600 pounds. Cargo can be placed on the boat deck and passengers sit on the sides.

If you are wondering about motor compatibility, this model can use both electric and gasoline. Using the optional motor mount you can use a Sevylor SBM 12v electric motor or a gas motor up to two horsepower. A motor allows you to cruise around with ease without the need for oars. It is standard practice to bring an oar along anyway in case you lose motor power for some reason.

These boats are remarkably lightweight yet strong. Special air chambers enhance rigidity and stability. Unlike V-shaped rigid boats, inflatable boats are not prone to leaning or tipping. If you like oaring, there are oar locks for easy going. These boats sit very high on the water which means you can access places that other boats can’t.

Offshore Charter Boat Fishing Tips For the Newbie

Posted by k5115116 on July 24th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Offshore fishing can be lots of fun with the right charter boat, equipment and captain. However there are a few things that the newbie needs to think about before chartering a boat. The number people going will dictate the type of boat you will charter. For small groups two to six people, you should look for the boat that will fish at least six people comfortably.

Choosing the right boat can make a difference in having a successful fishing trip. As far as boats go, boats with the catamaran hulls will give you the best ride and is the latest in charter fishing boats for offshore and inshore salt water fishing.

Here are three benefits you will receive with the catamaran hulls.

1. No pounding.

2. Little rolling.

3. Wider beam.

Sports fisherman already know this, but if you only get to fish every once in a while, you may not know that the catamaran hulls have become extremely popular. They provide great platforms for offshore fishing. Be sure the boat has a length of 35-feet and a beam of 12-feet 9-inches. With these specifications you can bring six people and be very comfortable.

There are questions you do need to ask in order for your total experience to go well.

Do ask:

1- For the captains phone number or his information assistant who will give you the right answers to your questions.

2- If the captain is from the area you are going to fish at, because he will know where all the honey holes are for great fishing.

3- What to bring and what to expect, have great commutation before you ever arrive at the docks.

4- For the right motion sickness product and what other first aid items to bring to get the most out of your trip.

5- What is the correct sun screen lotion they recommend, because the sun is warm and hot. If it is cloudy you will still burn.

6- What the charter boat will provide aboard it for fishing, like rods, reels and baits.

There are many other little things you need to know about, but this one is very important. Do not bring bananas because they are bad luck. To some it is an old tale, but to others it is taboo.

Catching a big fish, or finding the fish of your choice, is what matters. You will love the beautiful blue skies and water offshore. It is all worth seeing. The seas have many kinds of residents in it. You may not land the monster fish, but if you do, you will be hooked for life.

Fishing Tips For Bass – 3 Tips For Night Fishing

Posted by k5115116 on July 23rd, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Here I want to give you some fishing tips for bass that will improve your night game. Night fishing for bass is most actively done when daytime fishing becomes uncomfortable, and more importantly unproductive. As the temperature climbs the bass will go into deeper waters for the day. At night bass will move to shallower water where they will feed on nocturnal forage.

Night fishing is exciting but will require extra awareness of your surroundings. Above all else safety should always be your primary focus. Follow these fishing tips for bass for night time fishing success.

1. When to go – When bass quit hitting for the day it’s a good indication to try fishing at night. Generally the bass have gone into deeper water. This usually happens when when the water hits the mid 60’s or higher.

2. Where to fish – Normally, you can fish for bass in the same vicinity as daytime fishing. Bass don’t move great distances. Try fishing in shallow shorelines close to weed beds. Also around gravel banks where crawfish are abundant. Lighted boat docks will also have some great looking bass lurking in them.

3. What to use – Many anglers use heavier tackle at night versus the day. It’s easier to feel a heavier lure at night. It’s also going to be easier to hook a fish at night with heavier equipment. Spinner baits can be used quite effectively after dark.

Before you dump the entire contents of your tackle box because you think none of it is working try taking a night time excursion. You might find that there was nothing wrong with the bait, you just couldn’t reach the bass.

How to Prevent De-Anchoring Your Boat While Fishing in a Choppy Sea

Posted by k5115116 on July 22nd, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You have reached your fishing spot in the reef, dropped anchor and enjoyed your fishing, even though the sea is a bit rough. But after a while you notice the fish bite is getting fewer and fewer, and then stopped altogether, and you wonder why. It could be that you have drifted beyond the fishing area without noticing it because the anchor was lifted by the boat out of its setting in the sea bottom. It is common occurrence, really, but can be corrected by a simple device, a large float.

As your boat rides up and down the wave while drifting with the wind, the anchor line tautens and goes slack. When it tautens, it exerts a pull on the anchor that may be tremendous or gentle depending on the wave size. (In a choppy sea the pressure is just either tremendous or considerable.) With enough exertion, the boat can unseat the anchor from the sea bottom, drop it back when the wave passes then do it all over again with the next wave. The result is you can drift without your noticing.

To prevent that, attach a large float to the anchor line five to ten meters from your boat to create a slack that give when the boat rides a wave. Any float large enough to hold the anchor line up and the boat forward when there is slack, but submerges when the line tautens and allows the boat to ride the wave, is sufficient. An empty gallon-size plastic oil container, an inflatable ball or a net float about the size of a basketball would be good enough for an 8- to12-foot boat. If the float sinks all the time it is too small for the job. You will be able to know what size to use by experience.

The idea is to reduce direct pull pressure by the boat on the anchor be creating a sort of an elastic buffer between it and the boat. The float keeps the line tight yet allows for some slack to give on pressure. It serves two purposes: not to unseat the anchor, and minimize pressure on the boat’s bow where the anchor is tied.It is similar to the action of the rod tip as it bends according to the pull of the fish and handling of the angler.

So anytime you wish to go reef fishing and need to anchor, be sure to take with you good-sized float for your anchor line. With it you can avoid having to weigh anchor and go back to your spot every now and then, losing fish bite along the way. In fishing every bite counts!
